The Sheriff’s Office says the suspect shot at deputies — but I was on scene and didn’t hear it

🔍 Background: Gunfire in a Backyard
On Saturday, March 29, I was monitoring the Sacramento County Sheriff’s scanner when a call came in just after 4:15 p.m. reporting a man firing a gun in his backyard on the 8600 block of Blythe Avenue in Orangevale.
Deputies responded to the scene and reportedly tried to make contact with the suspect. A shelter-in-place advisory was issued to nearby residents, but evacuation was not mandatory. The standoff would stretch into the night.
⚠️ The Official Story: Gunfire Exchanged
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office later stated that the suspect opened fire on deputies just before 10:00 p.m., prompting them to return fire. The suspect was killed on scene. No deputies were injured.
But here’s where things don’t add up…
👁️🗨️ What I Witnessed: No Audible Exchange of Gunfire
I was on the scene for hours, just outside the perimeter — and I didn’t hear any gunfire being exchanged. If the suspect truly shot at deputies, it wasn’t audible from my position, which was close enough to hear loud verbal commands and other activity.
That doesn’t necessarily mean it didn’t happen — but it does raise valid questions.
Why wasn’t any outgoing gunfire audible?
Was the exchange brief, or did only deputies fire?
Could the suspect have been shot without ever discharging his weapon at law enforcement?
These are questions the public deserves answers to — especially in situations involving deadly use of force.
📽️ My Footage: See It for Yourself
I filmed this video during the incident, capturing the scene as it unfolded. You’ll see law enforcement moving into position, roadblocks being set, and tactical gear being deployed.
