HOWE PARK SHOOTING

4 Shot at Howe Park Sacramento – Unauthorized Gathering Erupts in Gunfire on April 18, 2026

On Saturday evening, April 18, 2026, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to Howe Community Park in the Arden-Arcade area after receiving calls around 6:30 PM reporting individuals possibly carrying concealed weapons and a potential fight in progress. Air support was deployed and searched the park but was unable to locate any active disturbance. However, several hundred people had gathered at the park for what authorities described as an unauthorized gathering.

Deputies surrounded the park, activated emergency lights on their vehicles, and spent approximately 15 minutes ordering the crowd to disperse over loudspeakers. As law enforcement was in the process of clearing the area, 20 to 25 gunshots rang out — sending hundreds of people running in all directions.

Four victims — a woman and three men, all in their 20s — were transported to area hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one with moderate injuries, and one with minor injuries. All four were reported in stable condition. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded and assisted with triage on scene.

Additional shell casings were located on Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the wrought iron fence surrounding the nearby Home Depot — indicating a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward Home Depot. The Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue was briefly placed on lockdown.

Over scanner traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — a Kia — was pulled over in Solano County with four detainees. Sacramento County Sheriff’s units were en route to collect the suspects and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video evidence confirmed two shooters were involved. CSI investigators and detectives were on scene processing evidence through the night.
